Locations this crystal can be found:

China

History:

‍ ‍1. Thin slabs of Dali Jasper were mounted in carved wooden frames and placed in scholar studios during the Ming and Qing dynasties. They were contemplated like landscape paintings to stimulate philosophy, poetry, & meditation.

2. Large, polished panels were installed in walls and screens in homes of officials and wealthy families as symbols of education, status, & refined taste.

3. Scholars kept them on desks while composing poetry or painting, believed to help the mind perceive harmony in nature and structure thoughts more clearly.

Lore:

‍ ‍1. It was believed each scene inside Dali Jasper represented a real spiritual landscape existing beyond the physical realm, a place the mind could travel to during contemplation.

2. Chinese philosophy associated it with the ability to step outside emotion and see life from a mountain-top viewpoint, calming impulsive reactions.

3. This stone symbolized cultivated intellect and owning one meant the person valued understanding over material gain.
