Origin & History

Origin:‍ ‍

1980- Mt. St. Helens, Washington

Locations this crystal can be found:

USA

History:

‍ ‍1. Gaia Stone formed during the 1980 eruption of Mt. St. Helens, when silica-rich volcanic material cooled rapidly into natural glass.

2. Unlike many crystals, it doesn’t have any historical uses. It is a modern material, only known and used after the late 20th century.

3. "Gaia Stone" is a commerical/metaphysical name, not a recognized species. It is essentially a form of green volcanic glass, sometimes compared to obsidian.

Lore:

‍ ‍1. Gaia Stone is believed to carry the energy of rebirth, renewal, and transformation; symbolizing how something destructive can become something beautiful and meaningful. It is often seen as a talisman for rising after hardship, reinventing your identity, and turning pain into purpose.

2. The name Gaia Stone connects the material to Gaia, the personified Earth in Greek mythology and is often described as "Earth's tears transformed into light". This represents emotional release, healing through expression, and the earth's ability to transmute energy.

3. Since it is created by melting volcanic ash at extremely high temperatures, it embodies the alchemical process of fire transforming matter.
